John Tippey was a Writer/Director/Producer of films for both cinema and television in Britain for more than thirty years before moving to America.
John worked in the film department for Sidney Bernstein at Granada Television and was a film director for Lew Grade at ATV, before becoming Managing Director of two independent film companies, Gauntlet Productions, for commercial and programming production for television; and Modern Films, for production and post-production of films for the Ministry of Defense.
For the cinema he made shorts such as The Worlds of Rudyard Kipling that won the Finbar at the Dublin Film Festival, and A Set of Slides (with Peter Bayliss), a study of Victorian England that won a Gold at the Berlin Film Festival. The Price of Peace, featuring the role of NATO in the years before the breakup of the Soviet Union, won the premier award at the Swiss Military Film Festival.
Although in America John became an independent video producer, he prefers to write.
